Notice of Town-wide Property Revaluation Project

As required by Connecticut State Statutes, The Town of Hartland will undergo a revaluation of all real estate property for the October 1, 2020 Grand List. Our last revaluation was performed in 2015. This 2020 Project will be considered a "full revaluation" to determine fair market value for all properties as of 10/01/2020. The Connecticut Office of Policy and Management as dictated by current State Statutes now requires a physical inspection of all properties a minimum of every ten years with an "update" of values every five years. This project will require all properties to be inspected.

The Town will be coordinating the Revaluation Project with the assistance of Appraisal Resource Group Inc. (ARG) who had assisted us with our 2015 Revaluation. Either Russ Beaudoin or Dan Beaudoin from ARG will be inspecting all properties over the next fifteen months to verify the current property records as well as to update records for building permits, new construction, photos, etc.

Revaluation is an important part of providing equal distribution of the tax burden among the property owners of the Town. What the Assessor Does

It is the Assessor's responsibility to establish fair and equitable values for all Real Estate, taxable Personal Property, and taxable Motor Vehicles located within the Town. The Assessment Year begins October 1st and continues to the following September 30th of each year. All assessment work must be completed for finalization of the Grand List on January 31st.
